Some tattoo shops open and close before anyone notices. Obbey Tattooing has been a fixture on the Delmarva Peninsula for over 43 years — and that kind of staying power isn’t an accident. Joshua Cole took over the shop from founder Robert Hensley, who still comes in three days a week. That continuity matters. The craft, the standards, and the reputation that built this place didn’t get handed off — they got passed down.
Obbey Tattooing offers custom tattoos, cover-up work, and piercings, with two artists who specialize in cover-ups. Joshua grew up on the Eastern Shore, got his start doing hand tattoos in Ocean City as a teenager, and was trained in old-school coil machine tattooing — a foundation that shaped how he thinks about the craft. The shop has a firm no-under-18 policy, including piercings, keeping things clean and uncomplicated for everyone.
Obbey Tattooing is health department regulated and the only permitted tattoo shop in Delmar — something worth knowing when you’re choosing who puts permanent ink on your body. That regulatory standard is a baseline Joshua takes seriously, and it’s been part of how this shop has maintained its reputation for over four decades.

Obbey Tattooing is rated 4.8 stars.
